Why we charge fees?
Adoption Fees vary depending on costs entailed in getting an animal ready for adoption.
Rescues charge fees for a reason. On occasion we encounter people who feel the fees are too high, or ask why we charge a fee at all. Here is why we ask a small adoption fee for our rescues. First, we rescue the cat/kitten or dog/puppy & then provide all vet care which always includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, deflea/deworm & a thorough vet exam. Some of our rescues require dental work, extra blood testing & other diagnostic testing, surgeries, medications, special foods & other vet procedures. It is only THEN that we work on rehoming that animal to you. We never slow down because there is always another animal that needs our help.
Keep this mind whenever you hear someone speak negatively about adoption fees. If you can’t foster, adopt or donate, then EDUCATE.
PST is British Columbia’s Provincial Sales Tax. GVAC Rescue is required to charge it on all adoption fees; PST is currently at a rate of 7% and it is included in our adoption fees.
